On a lovely canyon hike, at a spot with a beautiful view.

Gordon's New and Used

Saturday 11 August 2012

Saw this store on the way from Kelowna to Canmore. A whole room of used hubcaps. And you can quite see it, but under the "Gordon's New + Used Hubcaps," there's another sign that says "and daughters."

Jesus, take the wheel!

Thursday 9 August 2012

We headed out today, on our roadtrip to visit friends in Alberta. Today's destination: Kelowna, BC.

For a good time,

Saturday 28 July 2012

We went to breakfast at Bonn's, a local greasy spoon, where patrons are encouraged to write all over the walls. I particularly like this comment.

Is that a molehill?

Sunday 24 June 2012

A photo from the drive from Saskatoon to Regina. See that tiny bump on the horizon? Yeah, that's Blackstrap "Mountain." Yeah.

Hello dippy

Friday 8 June 2012

These just seem wrong on so many levels. In case you can't read the sign on the side there, these are cell phone covers made from Austrian crystals.

The real Shyla

Wednesday 6 June 2012

So, that cat we're cat-sitting? Yeah, she's crazy. She's a rescue cat, and came away with a few neuroses. Every now and then she needs some time to herself to tear out giant chunks of her hair. She has been checked out and there's nothing much to do about it. And really, if she's a sweet and wonderful cat who survived her abuse with only this one tick? Not bad.

License to brag

Wednesday 30 May 2012

Yep, British Columbia is not shy about provincial pride. But when you're right, you're right.

Pole staples

Tuesday 15 May 2012

I was looking through some of my old old blog posts yesterday and thinking about how much my photography has improved since then. And then today, as I was posting this, I noticed my finger in the upper left corner there. Yep - not improving that quickly!

Evil Dead

Sunday 6 May 2012

Tonight Ryan and I went to go see Evil Dead: The Musical. We sat in the "splatter zone," got sprayed with blood as the zombies were killed, and got to go back and meet the cast afterward. They tried to eat my brains.

Shakespeare's Garden

Saturday 5 May 2012

I went on a couple of walking tours with my friend S today - one in my neighborhood, and one in Stanley Park. The walk in the park was called "The Secret History of Stanley Park," and I learned some very interesting stuff. One spot on the tour was the Shakespearean Garden, which has been planted with things that he mentioned in his plays, and looks like an idyllic English garden. Hidden in the back is this rather ridiculous-looking memorial, which I'll admit made me giggle a bit.

Tragedy?

Monday 23 April 2012

The Canucks recently lost out of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and people around here were rather disappointed.

For all your needs

Thursday 19 April 2012

Oh man, I need to insure my house and cut my hair - what can I do?

Friday, March 09, 2012

Hello . . .

Friday 9 March 2012

Ryan and I went down to Richmond with our friend S today, for some good old-fashioned being-the-only-white-people-in-the-restaurant time. We enjoyed a stroll around the Chinese mall and a lovely Taiwanese dinner, not to mention this wonderful army of Hello Kitties!

Enthusiastic lawn

Thursday 23 February 2012

This house, which is between the subway stop and my class, always has tons of lawn decorations up. I didn't even know anyone actually decorated for St. Patrick's day . . .
