The Ataneo

Wednesday 23 August 2006

This is the Ataneo, the coolest bookstore I've ever been in. A converted theater (the boxes are now reading nooks, on the left there, and there is a cafe on the stage, not shown here), it is four stories of delicious books, with an art exhibition on top. It had such a neat atmosphere that I wasn't even that disappointed I didn't find what I wanted.

oh. my. goodness. it seems that i will never be able to visit you, unless they provide some sort of alarm bracelet for the junkies tempted to just run around licking all the many thousands of delicious, delicious bookses.

worry not jenny - they are all in spanish, which may or may not act as a deterent. it helps me a bit, because i know that the time it takes me read a spanish book is 2 to 3 times longer than an english one, so if ever i am tempted to buy something that looks wonderful, i say to myself: wait, that would take me a month to finish. with the help of a dictionary. and i am already in the middle of a book that is taking me a month to finish. it's excrutiating.
