Well, it's not real New Year yet (that comes at the end of January this year) but here is a banner that says "Happy New Year!" in Chinese.

Hi! I found your blog and have really enjoyed looking through all of your pictures. I feel like I am taking a trip back in time. I lived in Taipei for a year teaching at the Taipei American School in 1983-84. I was in college on a semester abroad program and decided to stay on and live and travel around Asia. I loved eating red bean ice! I had a blue scooter that I dangerously rode all around Taipei to the many English teaching jobs that I had. I can relate to so many of the experiences that you have shared even though it was 25 years ago.
I am a midwest gal, married, 3 kids living in central Wisconsin now and a teacher too- I used to teach kindergarten but now I am k-2nd grade computers. I would be really excited if you would add me as a facebook friend. You can search for me- Heidi G. Pence
